Our Story
Our roots run deep in American engineering. In the early 1930s, Schauer built DC power supplies for independent telephone companies. As technology evolved, so did we—providing power for iconic projects like Western Union lines, ITT international communications systems, and even the New York Stock Exchange’s famous tote board.
In 1947, we revolutionized the battery charging industry by patenting the first charger to use selenium rectifiers, replacing the outdated vacuum tube technology of the time. We’ve remained at the cutting edge ever since—pioneering the use of copper oxide, silicon, and germanium components, and introducing many of the charging, metering, and rectification technologies that are now industry standards.

Today, Schauer continues to lead the industry with automatic charging technology and high-frequency switching chargers for all types of lead-acid batteries, including flooded, AGM, gel, and deep-cycle designs.
